Accessing utility data using the Urjanet platform is a 2-step process.
- Using Connect, submit a data request containing your customer’s login information.
- Pull historical usage & cost data from the Console.
Step 1: Connect an account
To get started, embed the Connect URL into an email or web page. For an internal test, send the link directly to coworkers or connect your personal electric account.
The Connect URL has 3 components:
- Host: The base URL for all Urjanet Connect instances.
- Path: A unique identifier that signifies your company in Urjanet’s system.
- Query parameter: Specify a correlation Id to identify the customer in your system.
When opened, Urjanet Connect will request the Utility Provider, Username and Password from the user.
Note: It is highly recommended that you append a correlation Id to your URL. This key is used to link the utility bill data to your internal system.
Monitoring your request
When a request is submitted, Urjanet begins pulling utility data immediately. Real-time status of a request is available in the Console.
Step 2: Accessing Utility Data
Once a data request is complete, you can view its utility data. Clicking on a row in the Console will open the statement details.
Each row represents a single bill for that customer. Definitions of each data point are available in our Data Guide.
There are 2 ways to download data. Data can be downloaded in bulk from the Requests page (Screen 1). You can filter to a time period or utility provider and download an aggregated data set.
Data can also be downloaded for a particular customer, by clicking the download button on the request details page (Screen 2).
Congrats! You’ve now successfully submitted a data request and downloaded the last 12 months of historical data. You may want to check out the articles below to further build out your integration:
